Barnard Speziale Design Associates’ Alison Knapp Creates a Crisp Condo in the Clouds

“We developed a lighter, more neutral pallette in the foyer, living/dining area and main hallway that allowed the artwork and its many colours, textures and styles to live in a space that was non-competitive”

“This was our second project with this client. The colour scheme and the styling of some of the furniture pieces had definite impact on the new space. However, the client’s tastes had evolved to a cleaner, slightly more contemporary look since the earlier reno. The clients wanted a warm and inviting home-to entertain, to take advantage of the spectacular panoramic view and to highlight decades of collected art pieces. The client was an artist himself, so he wanted areas to display his works. In the main corridor of the condo, the designers created a series of columns and archways and sheathed them in stained maple, breaking up the length of the hallway, and creating a framework for individual pieces”

Knapp credits her project assistant Karen Shearim with contributing a great deal to the success of the job as well as general contractor¬†Les Anderson Construction Inc., painting contractor Larry Spree and custom cabinetmakers Jan’s Cabinetry.
