We quite literally blew the roof off this cottage great room, raising it into a lofty cathedral ceiling with over-sized wood beams.  The stone fireplace wall was also increased for greater impact using local granite rock and a more substantial mantel.  The quiet colour palette of creams, aqua blues, pale greens and chocolate browns was a soft interpretation of the surrounding landscape; serene lake, dense forest and rocky earth.  The client’s own furniture was re-used along with new items to create that “comfy cottage” atmosphere.  Lantern-style pendants, sheer linen drapery and natural-object accessories, all help to round out the idea of true Muskoka living.
